Hi! I'm Andrés Aguilar Quesada, a writer and Creative Director from Costa Rica currently working at UltraSuperNew, Tokyo, since 2018.

I studied Communications at the University of Costa Rica, Art History at the AAMBA, and copywriting at the Escuela Superior de Creativos Publicitarios in Buenos Aires.

My work experience goes back 16+ years and includes four years at BBDO Argentina, two at Ogilvy Costa Rica and Machina as Creative Director, and two more at Grey Argentina.

I have won multiple advertising awards, including Cannes Lions, One Show, New York Festivals, The Webby Awards, Wave,  Ojo de Iberoamérica, Facebook Awards, Effie, Lápiz de Platino, IAB, and the Grand Prix at the Argentinian Creative Circle Awards for two consecutive years. Additionally, I have served as a jury member at several international festivals, including the New York Festivals in 2016 and 2023, and the shots Awards in 2023. Most recently, my contributions as Creative Director and writer have been instrumental in UltraSuperNew being awarded the top spot in Campaign Asia’s Top Independent Agency in Japan/Korea for two consecutive years.

In addition to my advertising career, I'm a published author of novels, short stories, and essays. Click here if you want to learn more about my work and see my fabulous Writerly Picture. Or click here if you don't care.

Also, if you dig humor (you don't? what's wrong with you?), follow my ongoing projects: Nubenegra (fiction podcast), Ornitorrenco y lo empujan (webcomic), and Athila el Dhos (webcomic).

Finally, now that I'm all warmed up and comfortable talking about myself, let me tell you I'm a pretty decent tennis player. Shoot me an email if you want to set up a match at andresaguilar1@gmail.com.
