Who hasn’t tumbled down the slippery slope of mindless scrolling on social media?

Duolingo was looking for an idea to address this issue and encourage users to use their screen time more mindfully, without resorting to the usual preachy “back in my day, people studied harder” type of messaging.

So we approached the only Japanese inventor who could help: Marina Fujiwara. Fujiwara-san, listed in Forbes Japan 30 Under 30 in 2022, is famous for her zany, useless inventions. Together, we devised the Concentrator 2000, a device that hides pesky notifications the moment they appear on your screen while you’re busy with your Duolingo lesson. Problem solved (maybe)?
